Spring is in full swing which means the ultimate edit in your makeup especially foundation.
I was recently featured on Fox 29 Philadelphia’s Good Day Weekend for my expertise in skin finishing and custom bespoke makeup where I designed a custom foundation for news anchor, Lauren Johnson and reporter, Jennifer Joyce. Defining a woman’s beauty is one of my greatest passions especially creating the perfect foundation for my clients. My beauty tip as mentioned in WebMD The Magazine has always been to approach your foundation as the last part of your skincare regimen instead of the first part in your makeup application. Foundation is the base to which all color is applied and more importantly it protects your skin from the elements.
My bespoke foundation is perfectly tailored to match your skin tone and also your skin’s needs. Oil-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, mineral based liquid formulas that are not tested on animals are infused into your personal recipe with nurturing botanicals for customization beyond color to tackle your concerns to achieve flawless head-turning radiant skin.
What are botanicals? Botanicals are plant-based, naturally-derived ingredients that are good for your skin that can treat issues such as hyper-pigmentation, rosacea, oily, dry or sensitive skin along with perimenopausal, menopausal and post-menopausal issues. I may whip up a custom cocktail infused with some of the following botanical extracts: aloe vera for its anti-inflammatory properties; chamomile extract to soothe irritated problematic skin; Japanese green tea to fight damage from excessive sun; and cucumber extract to help tighten pores and soothe tired skin.
While bespoke fashion is all about fit and texture so is bespoke foundation. I can curate the sheerest tinted moisturizer, luscious beauty balm, supple souffle to the fullest coverage to take you from the gym to all-out glam or the boardroom to boudoir.

The Beauty Battle is a live event conceived by the creators of Celebrity Boxing. Its format is unique in that 8 every-day women models were chosen for a live beauty transformation alongside 8 hairstylists, 8 makeup artists and 2 nurse lip injectors in the main event. It’s a beauty competition yet so much more where everyone wins!
I am thrilled to be a part of the Beauty Battle Team managing the makeup artist segment. I especially enjoy the discovery of so many talented makeup artists and beauty professionals. And what makes this even more special is that we are bringing awareness to alopecia areata, a common autoimmune skin disease, causing hair loss on the scalp, face and sometimes on other areas of the body. It affects as many as 6.8 million people in the U.S. People of all ages, both sexes and all ethnic groups can develop alopecia areata.
In recognizing alopecia areata we have formed an alliance with Hairs 2 U Wig Bank in Philadelphia, PA whose mission is to assist uninsured and under-insured women and children affected by illnesses that cause hair loss.

The days are long but the years are short and here we are, yet again, at the conclusion of another year! Where does the time go?
I hope your 2017 was bursting with happiness, health and success! I was quite busy and didn’t get to write frequent blog posts but I wanted to take the time to share my year in review as it relates to Laini Cosmetics in the news and to thank all of my clients for their continued support.
As a Philly native it is extra special to be featured and recognized in the Philadelphia media. In February 2017 I had the pleasure of creating a photo shoot cover look applying my cosmetic products for a special Valentine’s Day Edition of The Philadelphia Daily News Sexy Singles.
In May 2017 I had a fun visit with the fabulous Jennaphr Frederick from Fox29 News in my Style Studio where we chatted about and duplicated various 2017 Met Gala trends to which blush draping was our favorite.
It has arrived and I believe Autumn to be fashion’s best season. The style never ends with trends in crushed velvet, leopard, denim, leather, all-out red and patterned tights to add chic flair to any outfit. My liquid velvet matte lipstick is the perfect pairing to all that is velvet this season!
The harsh effects of the summer sun and climate might have taken a toll on your skin but we must never neglect our skin in any season. I thought I would make reference to color correcting which should always be done before your makeup routine to correct and smooth imperfections to achieve that extra flawless no-filter needed photo ready skin.
Pink – highlights and brightens light to medium skin tones
Mauve – balances and brightens yellow to olive undertones
Yellow – cancels blue and purple and evens skin tones
Green – neutralizes redness ideal for skin rosacea
Laini Cosmetics also houses four cream based palettes with blendable formulas ideal for all skin types in Light, Medium, Medium-Deep and Deep. The darker shades are for shading and defining while lighter shades are for sculpting and enhancing features.
